What are High Performance and Sport Psychology Mental Health Services?
We provide psychological counselling and clinical services to athletes and performers dealing with mental health concerns and challenges. Our clinicians have experience working with adults, adolescents, children and youth, as well as couples and families. We provide services to competitive, elite, and professional athletes, as well as performers at all levels (e.g., dancers, musicians, vocalists).
Our clinicians include psychologists and psychotherapists who have expertise in sport and high performance settings and who understand the pressures and demands facing athletes and performers. Our therapeutic approaches take into account the specific concerns that athletes and performers face in pursuit of their goals.
What to Expect
You can expect to work with therapists who understand the pressures and demands of high-performance contexts. You can expect to set goals collaboratively with your therapist and work together to develop greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and to increase your coping skills to function and perform more effectively.
Our therapeutic approaches include emotion-focused therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT).
We offer in-person clinical appointments at our offices, and we also offer virtual/online appointments for our clients who may feel more comfortable engaging in therapy from a more private setting.
Who Should Consider High Performance and Sport Psychology Mental Health Services?
Athletes and high performers dealing with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, perfectionism, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, trauma, and interpersonal challenges and conflicts can benefit from working with a psychologist or psychotherapist with expertise in sport and high performance psychology, We also provide counselling and psychotherapy for sport and performance-related issues, including issues such as stress management, identity and career transition challenges, injuries, concussions, and burnout.
Note for athletes: Our services do not require a referral from a doctor, coach, or sport organization, and you do not have to be a carded athlete to access our services. Psychological and counselling services are not covered by OHIP. However, they are covered by most extended insurance plans and some Employee Assistance Plans (EAP).
