*Please note: a counselling/therapy session is generally 50 minutes in length with approximately 10 minutes allotted for therapist preparation and documentation.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Psychological and counselling services are not covered by OHIP however, they are covered by most extended insurance plans and some Employee Assistance Plans (EAP).  Please check with your insurance provider and plan for exact coverage details.  You can also click here to learn more about our Low-Fee options for those without insurance.

Do you do direct billing to health insurance providers?

In general, we do not do direct billing to insurance providers for our services. Insurance providers do not accept submission of unpaid invoices from our office as their agreement is with the member holder, not with our agency. There are some exceptions, for example we direct bill for MVA and WISB.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine if our services our covered.

How can I pay for therapy?

Payments are made before or immediately following each session. We accept credit card, debit card, or e-transfer.

As of September 12, 2022, we ask that clients register a default credit card with us. If payment is not received within 48 hours of a session, the card on file will be charged for the outstanding balance. In the case of extenuating circumstances, please contact our office.

What is your cancellation policy?

As long as you cancel more than 48 hours in advance, there is no penalty. Missed or cancelled sessions without 48 hours’ notice will be charged.

Can I have a family member’s sessions billed in my name?

No. College of Psychologists of Ontario guidelines require that billing for all sessions must use the name of the person who is the primary client.

This means that PCSG will bill in the name of the individual that it conducts the service for, including information gathering and feedback appointments for therapy/assessments.

This guideline applies even if the therapist sees another family member separately to provide support/intervention to the primary client or a family member participates in a session alongside the primary client for 10-15 minutes. For example, a parent speaking to their child’s therapist regarding how they can best support their child’s therapy journey will still be billed under the name of the child.

Exceptions to this rule include family therapy sessions, or if a family member sees another clinician for their own needs and discusses issues related to their family member(s).
